                        SOLVED

        The two pictures at right were sent to me by long-
        time subscriber, Pat Byrnes

        Pat  had  added  the  comment:    I  bought  this  many
        years ago on eBay, all they said was that it was used
        on  all  the  major  productions  around  Sydney,  but
        nothing else.

        So, who to turn to - Kev Franzi of course. And kev
        has one, and knows how all about it (as I suspected!).
        Kev’s reply was … The HKS machine –  I have two
        of them which I use all the time. I've never thought
        of them as being projectors which of course they are
        as the come with a bench top enclosed screen. It is of
        course an excellent animated viewer that film editors
        would  recognise  instantly.  You  would  find  it  very
        useful for checking 16mm prints [thread under the
        sprocket over the roller then through the gate] on the
        winding bench. If it has no screen set up a white card
        a foot in front of the lens, shielded it from the room
        light and your in business.
